Copywriting for the Yellow School Bus Industry

My apologies to all who have been following my blog, TimeWithJo… and then I fall off the face of the earth. Well, not really… I’ve been hard at work, and now it’s time to hang out my new shingle serving the yellow school bus industry!

You already know that I love to write. But really, I did not want to be a “starving writer”!

So, I launched a new website for an industry I love… the yellow school bus / transportation industry. (But no worries… I’m keeping up with this blog too, although I’ve yet to really define my direction with it.)

You may wonder… what’s there to write about?

Copywriting for the Yellow School Bus Industry

You may be asking, “What is copywriting?”

Do not get it confused with getting a “copyright” that denotes ownership of something…

Rather, this type of writing is closely linked with advertising, marketing and promotion.

It has been defined (loosely, my words), as “persuasive writing in order to sell something”. It may be a product… but it can also be an idea or an action you would like your reader to take such as signing up for your newsletter… You do this through persuasive writing… copywriting.

Why Write for the Yellow School Bus Industry?

Simple… It’s the industry I’ve worked in for the past 30 years.

I began as a school bus driver. Then after driving for 10 years, I moved into the office position of “Head Bus Driver”.

What does a Head Bus Driver do? Well, it depends on the company or school district you work for…

The school district I worked for didn’t want to pay for an Assistant Director (costs much more money than a Head Bus Driver!)… but I did all the work that an Assistant Director would do.

And by the way, I’ve spoken to many a Head Bus Driver. Some did the work of the Director… but without a title – and the salary that goes along with a title.

So, I’ve worn many hats in the title “Head Bus Driver”… but what I really want everyone to know (at least any who may be interested in hiring me as a writer), I did my share of business writing in those 13 years. I spoke and became friends with many a sales person who came through the doors… I was a true part of the buying process in my transportation department. Yes – I walked the walk and I can talk the talk!

Now the shoe is on a different foot…

I have since retired as a Head Bus Driver. I retired for personal reasons. However, I’ve kept my hand in the yellow school bus industry by working for a local contractor.

I love teaching and presenting in front of a transportation audience. They can be a “tough” crowd to “sell” to… selling safety…

But I love the industry… and I absolutely don’t want to leave it any time soon.

I still walk the walk and can talk the talk!

My writing services…

So, I told you a little bit about what’s going on in my life at the moment.
